A Young Man was Sentence to One Year jail for $240,000 Romance Fraud

Justice A.T. Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, on Thursday convicted and sentenced a young man Named Igweneme Moses (a.k.a Griffith Doyle), to one year imprisonment over conspiracy and money laundering.

He defrauded his victim. Chantai Meadery in February 2018 through a dating scam, promising to "build a Future together" in Switzerland, the Economic and Financial Crime's Commission (EFCC) in Harcourt zonal charge the offender on obtaining money by false pretence and money laundering.

The convict received the money through UBA Account number *30020624272*, which belongs to him and his daughter. It was also revealed that any time the account was credited. He transferred the money in United States dollars to a bureau de change operator who will then change the money into Naira equivalent to his daughter via UBA account no *2064404530*

Judge Mohammed convicted Moses and sentenced him to one year imprisonment and ordered Total restitution of a sum of Two Hundred and Forty Thousand US Dollars ($240,000) to the victim. Which he was only able to returned the sum of One hundred Thousand US Dollars ($100,000) to the victim
